ESG has become a decision criterion, but the question that really matters is a different one: can you trust the data? For the financial market, sustainability cannot rely on self-declarations or reports that are hard to validate alone. What counts is evidence, traceability and the ability to turn ESG information into clear signals for risk, credit, investment and third-party relationship decisions.
It is in this context that ESGreen Insights – Data for Sustainability was published in LIFT Papers 2026, within the ecosystem coordinated by the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) and Fenasbac (the federation of Central Bank staff associations). Below, we explain plainly what LIFT is, what LIFT Papers is and what our project delivers. At the end, you can download our full project.
What LIFT is and why it exists Link para esta seção
LIFT is an innovation ecosystem that works as an environment for co-creation and responsible experimentation, connecting different market players to develop solutions with the potential for real impact on the Financial System. Instead of "loose" innovation far removed from practice, the idea is to create a space where relevant problems can be tackled with more method, technical clarity and applicability.
In practice, LIFT brings institutions, experts and companies together to test approaches, discuss paths forward and accelerate learning on sensitive topics such as data, transparency, compliance and new market requirements. This matters because, when it comes to risk and sustainability, what counts is not just having a good narrative, but having technical consistency and evidence to support decisions.
What LIFT Papers is and how it differs from LIFT Link para esta seção
LIFT Papers is the publication that brings together the projects developed and registered in the LIFT ecosystem. In other words: LIFT is the environment where projects are structured and evolve; LIFT Papers is the technical record of those projects, organized to document the problem, proposal, approach and results objectively.
That is why LIFT Papers is valuable as a reference. It is material that seeks to explain what was done and how it was done, helping the market understand possible paths for real challenges. On this page, the focus is exclusively on the ESGreen Insights – Data for Sustainability project.
The ESGreen Insights project: why "data for sustainability" is the central point Link para esta seção
ESGreen Insights – Data for Sustainability stems from a recurring problem: ESG data is scattered, hard to validate and expensive to check at scale. When that happens, decisions become less secure, and risk, compliance, sustainability and credit teams end up stuck in manual, slow processes with little traceability.
The aim of ESGreen Insights is to turn ESG into actionable intelligence, with a 360° view of an entity's risk and compliance profile (for example, a supplier, client or partner). This view combines ESG signals with a geospatial layer, which is especially important in agribusiness chains, where social and environmental risk is often directly tied to the territory.
In other words: the project seeks to answer the question that defines the game in 2026 and beyond, "is this verifiable?", with data, traceability and method.
How ESGreen Insights strengthens trust: integration, validation and traceability Link para esta seção
The paper describes an approach that combines three pillars to increase reliability:
1. Data integration and harmonization Link para esta seção
The project connects multiple sources and organizes information that is usually scattered and in different formats. This reduces noise, increases consistency and enables comparable analyses.
2. Validation and automation with AI Link para esta seção
AI is applied to speed up analyses and compliance checklists, reducing the burden of manual work and increasing standardization, which is essential as the volume of entities analyzed grows.
3. Traceability and auditability (including blockchain) Link para esta seção
When the goal is to reduce information asymmetries, the evidence trail becomes part of the product. The auditability layer helps support decisions with more transparency and confidence.
The expected result is easy to understand: less guesswork, more evidence, and a more solid path for institutions that need to build ESG into critical decisions without creating a "parallel process".
What you will find in the ESGreen Insights – Data for Sustainability project Link para esta seção
The full project details the vision and components of ESGreen Insights, including:
- the problem addressed and why it is relevant to the financial system;
- the project's approach and how data is structured to support decisions;
- the reliability logic: integration, automation and an auditable trail;
- how the project connects to real decisions, such as risk analysis and supply chain due diligence.
If you work in Risk, Compliance, Sustainability, Credit, Procurement/Suppliers, Data or Innovation, the project was written to help you understand practical ways to turn ESG into an operational criterion, with more reliable and traceable data.
