Three changes reaching asset management

The taxonomy, investee reporting and closed pension funds have changed pace.

  • Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy: MRV system.

Asset managers and investment funds are slated for the first wave of the TSB MRV system, with the PIS indicator (Proportion of Sustainable Investments). Adoption is voluntary for now, and the path ends in mandatory verification by accredited verifiers.

  • CVM Res. 244/2026.

IFRS S1/S2 reporting has become voluntary for listed companies. Those that adopt it commit for at least 3 fiscal years, with assurance, and the “comply or explain” model comes next. Sustainability information on investees now depends on each issuer's choice.

  • Previc Ordinance 728/2026.

Closed supplementary pension entities now work with double materiality, an ESG plan and external managers contractually required to integrate ESG criteria, with deadlines staggered by segment.

From CNPJ to land parcel. Brazilian sources that global ratings do not cover.

Where data is missing in asset management

ESG analyst and research
Many Brazilian issuers and obligors do not publish a sustainability report.
Without their own report, analysis depends on scattered, undated public data.
Private credit and structuring
The underlying assets of a CRA, a Fiagro or an agricultural FIDC are in the field.
The event happens in the field. The impact shows up on the obligor's balance sheet.
Risk and compliance
A lookup at asset origination does not show what changes through maturity.
Between one lookup and the next, blind spots appear.
Products and reporting
Under the TSB, products labeled as sustainable or partially aligned must disclose their degree of alignment.
Every number needs a source, a date and a version.
Pension funds (EFPC)
The Previc 728 ESG plan calls for criteria applied to the portfolio and to external managers.
The entity needs to track what the hired manager actually integrates.
Data and technology
Data needs to reach the risk system and research in the firm's own format.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the most common questions.

Still have questions? Talk to an expert

What is the PIS indicator of the Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy?

The PIS (Proportion of Sustainable Investments) measures the percentage of investments under management by asset managers and funds aligned with TSB criteria. The MRV system guidebook places asset managers and funds in the first wave, with the path pointing to mandatory verification by accredited verifiers. Adoption of the TSB is voluntary for now.

Is IFRS S1/S2 reporting mandatory for listed companies?

No. Since CVM Resolution 244/2026, reporting has been voluntary for listed companies. A company that adopts it commits for at least 3 fiscal years, with assurance, and the "comply or explain" model comes next. For financial institutions, CMN Resolution 5,185 keeps the report mandatory.

What does Previc Ordinance 728 require of closed pension entities?

Previc Ordinance 728/2026 introduces double materiality, an ESG plan and a contractual obligation for external managers to integrate ESG criteria, with deadlines staggered by the entity's segment.

Does ESGreen cover privately held companies?

Yes. The ESGreen Score is calculated by CNPJ from public, regulatory and global sources, and does not depend on the company having listed shares or publishing its own report. Today, 85K+ companies are monitored continuously (data as of Sep 2026).

How does data reach the asset manager's systems?

Via API, in batch, on a dashboard or through alerts. Every record carries source, date and version, and the CNPJ is the integration key. The integration scope is defined in the proposal.

Is the ESGreen Score an investment recommendation?

No. The ESGreen Score, the IRC-ESGreen and ESGreen's indices are assessments based on public and regulatory data and on proprietary models. They are not a credit rating, investment recommendation or legal opinion and should be used as input for the institution's own decisions.
